Skillbuilding in Oils: The Wipe Out (Workshop)Folsom-compsitioninblueandgreen_c-for-web

Saturday, July 13  |  9 am – 1 pm
One Class  |  $45

INSTRUCTOR:  KELLI FOLSOM

This one day workshop will focus on a traditional technique referred to as “wiping out”. The goal is to achieve a stronger value structure, explore lost and found edges, connecting the lights and the darks throughout the painting. The result is a striking and atmospheric monochromatic “underpainting”.

Raised in the panhandle of Texas and Southeastern Oklahoma, Kelli Folsom’s love of creating art was inspired by her grandmother’s paintings and drawings. In 2011 she earned a B.F.A. from the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Connecticut. In 2011, she was a recipient of the John F. and Anna Lee Stacey Scholarship through the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. Kelli Folsom is an Artist Member of Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists and the Oklahoma Society of Impressionists. Her work is collected internationally and exhibited nationwide in galleries as well as regionally in venues such as the National Cowboy Museum.

CigART Box (Workshop)C-Stone-cigar-box-for-web

Saturday, August 3  |  9 am – 1 pm
One Class  |  $60 (most supplies included)

INSTRUCTOR:  CLINT STONE

Artists have always used many surfaces for their creations from cave walls to building exteriors and from panels to canvases. In this workshop, you will learn how to apply your artistic skills to a cigar box. The form of the cigar box offers many opportunities for presentation, and the form itself can offer a bit of fun, visual character to work with. Using acrylic paint and mixed media application, you will create two cigar box paintings.

Cigar Boxes and paint will be provided. Students may bring personal items that they would like to incorporate into their CigART box, i.e. photos or paper for collage.

Clint Stone is a painter who has been exhibiting his work for more than fifteen years. His primary media is acrylic paint. Stone’s work has been exhibited in more than 40 juried, invitational, group, or one-person shows. One of his paintings has appeared on the cover of Oklahoma Today magazine. From paper and canvas to buildings and discarded boxes, Stone paints on many surfaces. He graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma specializing in Visual Arts and Design Education. He has taught art classes for youth and workshops for adults as well as prepared educational materials for museums. In addition to his work as an artist and educator, Stone is also a curator.
