Understand the importance of posing, communication, depth of field, color, shadow, composition, quality of light and how these skills and many more can help you in creating an excellent photograph.
In this class you will broaden your knowledge of how to capture a successful portrait by studying the work of famous and not so famous photographers whose images come from such areas as advertising, fashion, editorial, sports, family, seniors, weddings and many more. We will also learn by viewing top notch examples from past students. Please note that this course meets 5 times in class and one time on location for the field trip. The class also includes assignments as well as weekly critiques. Knowledge is the key to success – overcome your fears by learning these techniques that will give you the confidence and know-how to create A+ portraits while having fun.
David Knox has returned to his native Oklahoma after spending 20 years in Atlanta where he worked first as a commercial photographer in the areas of fashion and advertising and later as a fine art photographer specializing in landscapes and alternative processes. For the past decade Knox has traveled the back roads of the American South documenting the region’s architectural ruins, landscapes, and people. His current work combines 19th, 20th and 21st century processes in single image and collage and he exhibits his work in Atlanta. He teaches photography and completed his MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2005.
